Dear (young) scientists advancing in sustainable development,
We are seeking submissions from young scholars and PhD candidates for the 2024 International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD). Please share your innovative research on how to create a more sustainable future across the environmental, economic, and social dimensions.
The ICSD will be held at United International University (UIU), Dhaka, organised by the Institute of Development Studies and Sustainability (IDSS). This institute is committed to create an interdisciplinary hub for research, teaching, and collaborations for narrowing down the science-policy gap towards sustainable development.
Like others, the UIU’s IDSS believes that the ‘world needs to do far more and do it faster’. National policymakers face the challenges of implementing the indivisible agenda for 17 SDGs and achieving progress across the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. Therefore, there is a need to address the scope and systemic nature of the 2030 Agenda and the urgency of the challenges. This requires a wide range of tools and science-based analysis to navigate the complexities and to realize the ambitions. IDSS’s research priority is, at this moment, on SDGs 1 no poverty, 6 clean water and sanitation and 7 affordable and clean energy:
Other than the above mentioned top SDGs priority of research, the following areas are the priority areas of the UIU-IDSS’s research:
- Study and assess the social response to development programs and its implications in terms of various policy options for sustainability;
- Examine complexities of development interventions versus local initiatives of sustainable livelihoods;
- Study climate change adaptation options, and policy research and advocacy for scaling up of good practices;
- Study Gender and Development;
- Study DRR and Sustainable Livelihoods;
- Study cultural diversities.
The forthcoming International Conference on Sustainable Development will be covering the above mentioned directions of Sustainability. In addition, different themes are included that are reflective of different priorities during the conference:
- Climate Actions
- Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Circular Economy
- Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security
- Inclusive Development and Sustainable Livelihoods
- Ecology, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Cities
- Health for life
Please share your abstract to icsd@idss.uiu.ac.bd by 07 February, 2024. The abstract should be comprised of objectives, methodology, and findings within 250 words following the APA guidelines (7th Edition).
